Beginning Hand-Built Pottery Class
The Studios of Cocoa Beach is hosting a Beginning Hand-Built Pottery class on Friday, February 24 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. This class is perfect for anyone who is interested in learning or improving their hand-building processes with clay.
Instructor Glaucia Romano will guide you as you learn the basics of hand-building with clay by using slabs, coils, or pinch-pot techniques, discover how to use a variety of tools and molds, and how to add texture. Work at your own pace and at your own level! There will be examples for you to work from or bring your own ideas.
Glaucia has a Masters in Art Education and is a certified Art Educator in the state of Florida. She has taught art classes for at least 15 years in the public and private sectors, mostly to kids, but also to adults. She has a wide knowledge of a variety of media and processes and can’t wait to share them with you!
Firing and Glazing: Your artwork needs to dry for a week before it can be fired. Firing is included in the price of your class. You will need to return to the Studios once you are informed that your fired piece is ready for pick up. If you want to glaze your piece, arrangements will be made for you to return and do the glazing, which takes about an hour. $20 material fee will be charged for glazing and the second firing. Questions? Please email glauciaromano@gmail.com or text 321-345-0670.
The fee for the class is $75 which includes clay and equipment. Register at the Studios website: www.studiosofcocoabeach.org. The Studios’ workshop room is behind the gallery at 159 Minutemen Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach. Their gallery is open Monday to Saturday 9 am to 7 pm and Sundays 10 am to 3 pm.
