Beginning Pottery Class: Hand Built Techniques
The Studios of Cocoa Beach is hosting a Beginning Handbuilt Pottery class on Friday, June 9 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Whether you’ve always wanted to try making clay pottery or you need a refresher course, this class is for you!
Instructor Glaucia Romano will guide you as you learn the basics of hand-building with clay by using slabs, coils, or pinch-pot techniques, discover how to use a variety of tools and molds, and how to add texture. Work at your own pace and at your own level! You are encouraged to bring pictures or sketches to work from, but there will be resources and suggestions to inspire you.
Glaucia has a Masters in Art Education and is a certified Art Educator in the state of Florida. She has taught art classes for at least 15 years in the public and private sectors, mostly to kids, but also to adults. She has a wide knowledge of a variety of media and processes and can’t wait to share them with you!
Fee for the class is $75 which includes clay and equipment. After class the artwork will be fired and returned to the student. If you’d like to glaze your work, you may schedule a time with the instructor to apply the glaze for an additional $20 which includes materials and a second firing.
