May Mysteries Concert

Melbourne Community Orchestra presents…

May 3, 2023  |  Melbourne Auditorium  |  7:00pm
May 4, 2023  |  Melbourne Auditorium  |  7:00pm

Murder and mayhem in the Melbourne Auditorium? Yes– and the audience will help solve the crime, when the Melbourne Community Orchestra combines a concert of greatest classical hits with a murder mystery. The action in May Mysteries is reminiscent of the popular board game Clue and takes place at 7:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, May 3 & 4 at the Melbourne Auditorium, 625 Hibiscus Boulevard. Local standout performer and tribute artist, Alfie Silva will take the role of Detective Marlowe, investigating the crime and questioning a string of suspicious characters from the orchestra. The original script by flute player Noël Barefield features an evening of orchestral music in the zany murder mystery that includes Maestro Mark Nelson in a key role. The action is punctuated by some of classical music’s greatest hits, including Nimrod (Enigma Variations) by Edward Elgar, Prelude to Afternoon of a Faun by Claude Debussy and the 1812 Overture by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. A pre-show of onstage musical performers will entertain the gathering crowd, beginning at 6:15 PM. Admission to May Mysteries and all Melbourne Community Orchestra concerts is free. The 70-member group conducted by Mark Nelson is the Orchestra in Residence for the City of Melbourne.
