Oratorio Concert
An afternoon of classical music is in store for the audience of the Franz Schubert Mass No. 2 in G Major on Sunday, March 30 at 3:30 PM in Cocoa Beach, when Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach continues its 2024-25 season of the popular Dr. Vernon Boushell Concert Series.
The concert at 3400 N. Atlantic Avenue (A1A) will join the musical talents of the Riverside Chamber Orchestra with the voices of the Riverside Community Chorale for a free afternoon of music.
The Austrian composer’s Mass No. 2 in G major was composed in less than a week in early March 1815 and remains the best known of his three short settings. The 20-minute work will feature soprano Beth Green, tenor Robert Yost and bass Jim Seidel, under the direction of respected conductor, Richard Sabino. Additional orchestral works on the program include the allegro movement from the String Symphony No. 7 by Felix Mendelssohn, as well as the allegro movement from the Double Concerto for Violin and Cello by Johannes Brahms. The Brahms will feature local father and son standout musicians, Carey Moorman on violin and Isaac Moorman on cello. Pieces by Fuchs and Pierne complete the afternoon of music.
Arrive early for best seating. A ticket for the free performance is required and can be reserved online at RiversidePresbyterianChurch.org or by calling 321-222-7875
