Free tax preparation and filing for seniors in Viera and Altamonte Springs

One Senior Place, the marketplace for senior resources in Viera and Altamonte Springs, will host volunteers from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) from February through mid-April, for seniors requiring assistance with tax preparation. Appointments must be scheduled in person on Wednesdays only with an AARP Foundation Tax-Aide representative at One Senior Place, beginning January 22 from 9 AM to 1 PM in Viera (8085 Spyglass Hill Road) and February 5 from 10 AM to 2 PM in Altamonte Springs (715 Douglas Avenue). The program, aimed at taxpayers 50 and older, does not require AARP membership. Assistance is provided by volunteers certified by the Internal Revenue Service. The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will fill out tax returns and file them at no charge. Seniors can also get their tax returns submitted electronically for free, recommended for a speedy refund.
