Biography
Darleen loves to paint tropical references, wildlife, architecture,and people involved in an activity. Usually her subjects deal with strong light and shadow, enabling her to use a wide range of values and color in her art. Painting is problem solving, and she is fascinated with the challenges and effects of watercolor and painting on silk. Darleen Hunt has painted all of her adult life. She has studied and taken workshops from numerous nationally known artists. She began exhibiting her work in 2000 after retiring from a career in Public Relations with NASA at the Kennedy Space Center. Her art has been well received by art collectors and continues to be in high demand and award-winning.
She exhibits in juried art shows including the Space Coast Art Festival, the Melbourne Art Festival, Vero Beach Under the Oaks, Boca Raton Festival, the Winter Park Art Festival, and Festival of the Masters, Disney World. She also exhibits with the Florida Watercolor Society, the Brevard Watercolor Society, the Strawbridge Art League, and the Central Brevard Art Association. Her work is currently in Gallery Zarragossa, Pensacola, and Elegance by the Sea, Vero Beach.
Darleen paints with watercolor on paper, and also paints with dyes on silk using the French Serti technique. She lives with her husband, Jerry, on North Merritt Island. They enjoy a koi pond, peacocks, fruit trees, and tropical vegetation...often the subjects of her work.
