Description

June Long-Schuman is an award winning fine artist with a love of plein air painting working primarily in acrylics and oils. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, June has made her home here in Florida and finds a wealth of subjects to paint. She received a BFA in Fine Art from Pratt Institute and went on to earn her permanent teaching certification in Art sharing her love of art with both children and adults. After studying printmaking at C.W. Post and Stony Brook University, the human figure became the subject of a series of monoprints depicting dynamic spiritual energy. “I always loved drawing the human figure in life study classes and used it in my work to convey energy, power and raw emotion stretching it towards abstraction.”

Her landscape paintings all have a painterly gestural approach imbued with a sense of calm tranquility. In contrast, June’s wildlife series of manatees, sea turtles and water birds evoke a sense of power and grace expressing more realism. “In nature we find our true power and our energy blends with the eternal universe.”

June has shown locally in Eau Gallery, Vero Beach Art Club Gallery, Fifth Avenue Art Gallery and the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Inspired by Florida’s lush tropical landscape and amazing wildlife, June continues to participate in group and juried shows and Plein Air events. She was delighted to have recently received a Merit Award in the NBAL Spring Art Show.
