Biography

Her art is an expression of life experiences that combines mind, body, and spirit. She has learned to re-awaken her artist soul and paint her deepest feelings. Her paintings speak to her, and she listens and responds with a brush and color. She believes in letting her paintings lead her where they need to go. She studied at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art in New York City, at Springfield College and at the University of Massachusetts where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and Howard University (Washington DC), The Art Students League (NY), The New York Academy of Art (NY), and the Summer Mural Programs in Springfield MA. She recently retired and relocated from her home in New York City to Melbourne, Florida. Her artwork can be seen on the book cover “Notes to Make the Sound Come Right” by T.J. Anderson III. She is a member of the Strawbridge Art League & Gallery in downtown Melbourne, where she has permanent wall space to exhibit her paintings.

Acrylic paint is her medium of choice on board or canvas. Over the years, her art has become bolder and evolved into more of an expression her own vision, often with patterns and images from her African American heritage. The paintings are focused on figures, patterns, hard edge, geometric forms, and bright colors, and elements of collage are often incorporated into the paintings. Her latest paintings are greatly influenced by her new life in Florida.
