Biography
I am a self-taught artist new to the art world. I started to enjoy putting acrylic paints to canvas in 2010 while wintering in Florida from New York (Long Island). I attribute learning and understanding the painting process by watching public television artists, which I still watch today. I also, acquired and read many books about artistic rules (color, composition, prospective, etc.), painting techniques and methods, and the expressional freedom of using acrylic paints and their mediums.
By late 2011, I started selling several pieces of my work. This encouraged me to continue to expand my skills and knowledge. I, even, took over and continue the teaching responsibilities of an acrylic painting class in the community where I formerly wintered. I joined two art groups: Brevard Brush Strokes and Central Brevard Art Association (CBAA), which I am the Treasurer since August 2015. I have sold over 150 original acrylic paintings: privately in New York or here covering various topics or specific commission pieces, at CBAA Art shows and its public activities, and as an artist at the Island Art Gallery (now located at Cocoa Beach Pier).
I permanently moved to Florida in November of 2013 and reside in Heritage Isle in Viera with my husband of 44 years. I was vocational teacher for 31 years and retired in 2002. I taught Floral Design/Horticulture; a required course for vocational credit called Introduction to Occupations, and finished my last year and a half teaching a business program to slow learning students. I paint for my own pleasure but with the belief that I am Painting a Painting for someone who will say “WOW! That’s just what I have been looking for!” Or “I love it and I have the perfect spot for this painting.”
