Description
Dave Jones was born in 1948, in Palo Alto, California. Both his parents were scientists who worked for NASA, and together they did the pioneering work that led to the swept-back wing design that makes jet travel possible. All his life Dave has had equal passions for jazz and modern art. He has been drawing and painting since he was 12, when he first saw an abstract painting by Jasper Johns -"I love abstract art because when it’s good it can put the viewer in touch with who they are beyond their culture, psychology, history or personality." Dave and Liz, married 42 years, are proud of their daughter who is chief of staff of the largest art gallery in the world!
Dave has sold approximately 700 paintings and drawings, and has taught drawing, painting and color theory for young and old, both in his studio and in public venues. He's taught drawing and painting for 35 years to students of all ages and skill levels, including to youth at risk in the Mississippi Delta; and has also taught public school teachers how to teach their students art.
