Description
Jill Kettler settled in West Melbourne, Florida after working as an Education Director for Florida State Prison. She resumed her painting again after raising a family and retiring.
Nature is the inspiration of most paintings for Jill Kettler. Her palette reflects the varied hues and moods and subjects of her surroundings in Florida. For her oil paintings, she often blocks in her composition using acrylic undertones over a gesso base. Once the composition is blocked in, the vision comes alive using wet-on-wet in oils. Floating layers of paint suspended in oil brings added dimension to the painting. She often compliments her paintings with hand-crafted wood frames.
For her acrylic paintings, she often begins with a grey tone or sienna tone sketch. She details her focal point and then uses layers of color to contrast light and dark to bring interest to the composition.
