Biography
The road to finding her artistic voice has been long and full of the challenge of marrying mediums. Beginning in traditional painting, watercolor and acrylic, Barbara was soon enraptured by the muse of technology. This led to an exploration of photography, print making and the earliest classes offered in the 1980s in digital art. Not being able to pick one medium above the others, she spent years looking for a way to merge them all.
Barbara grew up in New Jersey, holds a BFA in studio art from the University of Rhode Island, and resides in Melbourne, FL. Her current work with The Guardian Series has evolved over the past years and now is her sole focus. She aims to make visible the invisible influences upon us. Barbara is deeply interested in the spiritual side of life and highly motivated by beauty.
Desrosiers’ imagery is created on an iPad. She works intuitively, allowing the image to unfold of its own accord and direction. When a piece reaches an end point on the iPad, she exports it to her laptop and refines it with filters and final resolution in Photoshop. From there it is printed on archival paper and then varnished or sprayed with a digital protective spray. All work is done to archival standards, whether mounted on cradled panel or as an unmounted print.
