Description
Positive Energy Arts believes in the transformative power of dance arts education. We wish to engage, enrich, and inspire students in schools through partnerships with professional teaching artists and local communities throughout Brevard/Florida Schools and the Dance/Arts community.
Positive Energy Arts was created in 2012 to help address the decline of arts education programs in the public schools in both Harrisburg and York County. Decreases in state and local funding, forced schools to cut the arts from their curriculum. Professional performing arts organizations were recruited to offer cultural programs. Harrisburg and York City Schools searched for quality enrichment arts programs in the belief that all students deserve to experience the power and energy of dancing as a part of their school curriculum.
With the goal of supporting and enriching his community, keeping the arts alive and kids dancing, William Shipley III, the former CEO of Shipley Energy, partnered with Thomas K. Flagg, an entertainment professional with over 40 years of experience in the dance industry, to create educational programs that would bring the arts into every student’s life. Positive Energy Arts was founded on the belief that diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility are fundamental principles that guide our work. We strive to create teaching and learning environments that are appropriate for the demographics of York. Positive Energy Arts is a committed organization and community partner that upholds a healthy environment and provides engaging, immersive, joyful arts experiences for the children and communities we serve.
